Abstract
— Suraiya Alamgir Anarkali
The world has fallen asleep,
burying its face in the mantle of night.
Upon the blood-stained body of the moon,
all traces of moonlight seem to have vanished.
The light of the fireflies has faded,
one by one.
Deep within the forest of my heart,
birds of sorrow merely flutter their wings.
I am like a weary traveler.
Across the darkness of my nerves, everything is abstract.
The clamor of dreams—
like a poisonous, thorny vine—
reaches out, as if in love, to block my path.
A pallid sky hangs, drowsy,
overhead.
For so long,
the sky has remained overcast—
yet, the rain never falls!
In the same way,
clouds gather and pile up within my heart,
shrouding everything in darkness—alas!
And yet, the rain still does not fall.
