LONGING IS BELONGING =THE STORY THEN AND NOW
Sitting upright in my balcony
is the mellow autumnal sun,
and my sun kissed thoughts
coerces to trace
that tangerine colored memory.
Your bidding goodbye
in that dulcet autumn sunset,
your words “longing is belonging”
in that crisp ringing tone…
wringed my soul then;
The moment felt parched
as if the massive Sahara
had crept within me.
But from then on
your words became my soliloquy;
That long longing
at length found an oasis
that made the Sahara
look so enchanting.
The Saharan landscape within me
then looked like a luminous meadow
of many a sunrise and sunset;
The fledgling oasis
fledged into a river of belonging
and intoxicating blooms, bloomed
around its multitudinous surrounding!
But now…
the rustling autumnal leaves
with a fiery scarlet skirting
almost resembling
the fiery Scarlet O’Hara,
bemuses me with its prod..!
“Do you not belong any more?”
And with that…
sharp stalagmites of melancholia
begin to melt.
Running down from the source
those cold droplets of water
remind me
of that cold other side of you.
Oh so vividly livid is it
that other side of you!
Deep crevices of bold thoughtlessness
punctured the once beautiful
vistas of your mind;
The mind that now remains gated!
Gated behind strong pillars
leaving no room for loving fillers.
But…
I’ve been and I’ve seen
I’ve dealt and I’ve felt,
my love for you so abundant
that now feels redundant.
Making its way back
is the unrelenting Sahara
that now resembles
a distant, deceiving chimera.
That never ending longing
has begun again,
and from here to there,
the road to belonging
looks extensive, feels intensive
like a very cold Saharan night;
But how am I to ever forget…
those your words so comprehensive..
“Longing is belonging”!
